Sarah's Arrival and First Week of Life.

First off I can say I did not get the birth experience that I wanted! God and Sarah definitely had a different plan for me.

This is the story of Sarah's arrival and her first two weeks of life.

We arrived at the hospital at 5am on February 29th. I was having contractions that were about 5-6 mins apart and we thought that Sarah would make her arrival soon. We registered and got into our labor and delivery room, where we would spend the duration of the day. After about 1 hour of contractions, they went away.... so of course they decide to give me a little bit of pitocin to make things roll again. I was NOT happy about receiving pitocin. My contractions started coming again, and they were about 2-3 mins apart. I received one pain shot between 11am-12pm. The contractions had gotten so bad that I just wanted something to take the edge off. The shot wore off about an hour and a half later. I'm so glad that I had my doula, Margo & Kyle there with me, without the two of them I don't think I would have EVER made it through. At 7pm, they finally decided to check me to see how far dilated I was. I was at a 7, with my water still not broken, and contractions coming closer together. At this point my pain was horrible so they filled up the water birth tub, so i could labor in it. That worked for about 30ish minutes until my heart rate got so high I felt like I was about to pass out. So out of the tub we go!
I was at a 7cm with my water still intact until 11pm. The midwife finally broke my water at 11pm and I quickly went from a 7 to a 10cm and was ready to push in no time. We pushed for about a hour, I believe. Miss Sarah Clarke Sewell arrived March 1, 2012 at 1:13am. She weighed 7 pounds 13.5 ounces and was 20 inches long. Kyle and I could not be happier!

We stayed in the hospital until the afternoon of March 2nd. The first two nights of Sarah being home we horrible. The first night she vomited about 10 times and cried constantly. The hospital had given us some formula to give her since my milk had not come in yet. That formula did not agree with her little tummy at all. So on Saturday we went and purchased some sensitive formula so that her little tummy would feel better. Saturday night she was just as upset, ad wouldn't go to sleep, unless Kyle or I was holding her. Finally we decided to swaddle her and see if that made things better, and thank the Lord it did! On Sunday morning when we all woke up, Kyle and I went and purchased her a swaddler from babies r us. We now swaddle her every night at bedtime. She loves it!

We have some sort of a routine going. She feeds every 2-3 hours during the day. We go to bed at 9pm after she eats and then she wakes up usually between 2-3 to eat and then again between 6-8 to eat.

Kyle and I are so beyond blessed. God has given us more than we could have ever asked for!

Sarah will be two weeks old on Thursday. I can't believe that time has flown by this fast. It seems like just yesterday we were 9 months pregnant!

I will updated again in a week or so.
